Other features
Raised nap on both sides (WDC). One side shows small lump, probably flattened knot (diam. 3mm), in weft, possibly weft repair. Adjacent warp threads displaced by lump.
All edges of the insole had been cut. Dr W.D.Cooke identified signs of considerable surface wear on the original garment (possibly a cloak), but none from intended secondary use as an insole. Slightly longer than EU shoe size 24, perhaps for older child (Van Driel-Murray 1993, 45).
