Edges Plain selvedge: 8 single Z-spun warp threads pass over pairs of S-spun weft threads, which part in opposite directions to return into sheds on either side of original shed (fig. 00). The selvedge is c.4mm wide. No sign of colour or of significant wear. Selvedge type simple

Description Sewing: a small worn knot projects c.3mm from selvedge edge at one corner. It fastens 2 strands of Z-spun yarn, apparently not plied. Elsewhere down the selvedge there are traces on one side of at least 3 overcast stitches (worked Z) in very weak badly preserved S-spun wool: uncertain if 1 or 2 strands.
