Other features
System 2 made of 4-5 'ribs'/cm. Each rib consists of 5 threads which, in some cases, when exposed, have amalgamated into a thick, undifferentiated bundle.
The lines of knots: one line survives better than the other two which flank it. Four loose knots survive semi- detached in line gamma (see drawing). knots of line beta: c.14 knots adjacent to one another survive. Traces of rope ?stitches on line alpha.
Knot line alpha consists of row of knots anchored round 3 pairs of warp threads (see drawing, A, C, E). Much damage and missing threads, but this seems to be the scheme. A complete shed seems to be opened before the knot weaver forms the knots out of just the front alternate warp pairs. At one point in line รก a rope-like feature emerges from the front to the back. It consists of 2 strands twisted S of possibly slightly Z twisted bundles of fibre, c.4mm in diameter overall. Almost nothing of it survives on the front. Function unclear.
Knots: two strands of virtually untwisted fibre bundles, c.3mm each, are inserted around the group of 3 front warp pairs. They are simply
wrapped around the group of 3 warp pairs twice and the ends project to the front. Pile projects c.15mm
