Loops of fringe strands are looped round an anchor thread of two S plied strands, one of 6 and one of 7 S spliced single yarns, slightly Z twisted together. There are 5-6 loops next to one another along the anchor strand. Each loop consists of 8 fringe strands. The fringe is at least 130mm long. No sign of a knotted end, but red staining in patches survives on mass of fringe.
Max. length of surviving fringe fragments: 200mm
