Other features
A sub- rectangular amalgam of re-used textiles (350mm x 180mm overall) showing at least two structural phases (fig 00a, b). The core 2/2 diamond twill 025/001 (Z/S, c.14/14 per cm) (repeat 12 (occasionally 14) warp/7 weft [d1l]) has a folded hem on one long edge, but is raw on the shorter edges; to its other long edge are sewn a wedge (025/003) of (probably) the same twill and a second scrap (025/005) of the same. The seams are robust, but the sewing in 2-ply thread is crude. A small patch (025/002) of tabby is used to repair a hole at one corner of the amalgam, probably in a second phase; its sewing thread is lighter brown.
The function of the (now incomplete) amalgam is more likely to be utilitarian than for apparel.
