Borders
Fringe: very thick fuzzy tassels expand backwards and conceal the plaiting which anchors the fringe strands. Complete deconstruction not possible, but presence of three parallel Z plied threads constituting full width of plait visible on top of an exiting and turning Z ply, so probably arrangement as Bergman B7 over 6 tassel units. Many yarns visible in plait sheds. Probably a pair of yarns is anchored in a plait shed, along with a Z ply 2 ply thread, the latter turns along the plait, the former passes out of plait to join neighbouring fringe strand, with which it is knotted inside tassel (see drawings).
Tassels consist of 28 40mm long lengths of S spun single yarns (diam. up to 0.7mm uncompressed). They fold over so that 56 yarn ends project outwards from the tassels. The 28 lengths appear to be held by a pair of yarns and a Z ply, knotted within them, but there may be an additional, lateral yarn through the middle, securing the row of tassels side by side. (Can’t check this.)
