FURTHER DETAILS
Colours
Blue supplementary yarn.
Pattern
Grid pattern: blue lines consist of a pair of blue yarns, Z plied from 2 S single yarns, 1mm thick.
In weft, blue lines inserted in same shed as existing pair. In warp, the blue also works with a pair.
Normally a pair, but occasionally seems to be a single blue yarn. Damage? Lines cross one another without interacting. For dimensions, see drawing.
Pattern element
bands and stripes
Edges
Selvedge QI type 2 in paired weft. Width 6mm.
Outer extra selvedge: over 3 bundles 4/3/3 (4 = outer).
Main selvedge on textile same as above, so textiles presumably the same.
Other features
Weft possibly weaker single.
Warp repair knots, repairing one of the pair.
Sewing
Description
Stitches securing selvedge: hard Z plied from 4 S single cotton yarns, worked Z at approx. 8mm intervals, but irregular. Thread holding pieces of basket weave together is the same.
2nd piece of basket weave attached, same textile. Both edges turned back, but sewn edge to edge leaving folds on same side.
Small patch of fineish tabby sewn on back.
