Red supplementary yarn. Sewing yarn purple-blue.
Pattern
Weft in band: pale madder red, weak/medium s single, 35 per cm. Wool. Only one area of red, 6mm long x 4mm wide, survives. Empty band elsewhere 4mm wide. No warp grouping.

Description
Line of counted thread work - 30mm away from red band and parallel to it, but only runs for 45mm (see drawing for its structure). Individual and bundles of threads (purple-blue, weak/medium s single wool) mostly missing for distance of 45mm. Does not interrupt the 1/1 tabby. Holes and indentations visible. The central stitch line consists of 3 'weft' yarns in blue adjacent to one another, worked tabby. This has caused some gathering of warp into ridges, apparently 3 warp down, 3 warp up.
