Borders
Fringe. Two adjacent warp threads are taken directly from the half basket cloth fell and twisted and plied Z. Two adjacent pairs are then twisted S to form a 4-yarn strand. Four of these 4-yarn strands are then plaited to form the principal fringe strand. The S single pairs taken directly from the cloth fell pass through two Z plaited cordelines parallel to the weft before exiting to be S plied as one of the 4 fringe strands. Exact arrangement unclear. Fringe length 120mm.
Width of braid 4mm
Braided fringe strand ends in 4 bobbles. Bobbles consist of a 4-strand tassel (= 8 yarn ends) clasped by one of the 4 braided strands and possibly tied, with or without an extra yarn. Only one fringe strand survives.
