Description
Rows of bosses (flowers) embroidered parallel to system 1, in blue yarn.
Blue sewing yarn: Z plied, 2 ply S single, diameter 1-1.1mm
Boss/flower: raised centre created by tight chain stitch in spiral, surrounded by outer rays created in a single running stitch. Stalk consists of 2 running stitches interlocking through the holes. Best preserved boss 15mm diam. Boss centre c.10mm, raised 4mm.
Central motif: partial survival of petalled flower? in a frame
Front largely abraded and faded. Back clearer and better preserved. (See drawing on acetate.) At least 2 knots visible on back of each boss.
Stitches seem to be running stitches, or overlapping running stitch, except for bosses proper which are chain stitch.
