Just before fringe, band of selfbands, 13 in all, each paired except numbers 3 and 6 (counted from base of fringe, see drawing), which are singles. Extra weft is single, S spliced or plied, stronger twisted than weft (see drawing).

Fringe: two adjacent warp threads are twisted S and the 2 pairs, after being parted by a single extra yarn in weft direction, are S plied to form the fringe strand. Fringe strands 35mm long, ending in neat knot.
