Description Rolled hem, secured with Z plied 3 ply S single cotton, worked Z at c.9mm intervals on inner edge. Hem width 5mm, thickness 3mm. Couched yarn on flat side is medium/weak Z plied from 3 S single yarns, diam. 1mm, same as sewing yarn. Couched into position by a pair of blue yarns which come through from the other side. On hem side, one pair of Z plied 2 ply S single blue yarns is couched close to hem offset, held in position by 2 pairs of similar yarns working independently, which pass through alternate holes and Z twist around each other(see drawing). Distance between holes on flat side regularly 7mm. On outer edge of hem there are just traces of another blue pair, sewn Z into cotton fabric at 6mm intervals, mostly worn off.
