Transverse border: pairs of adjacent warps are Z twisted together and plaited (see drawing). Ends of warp plies appear to be visible on outer edge of fabric.
Variant of Bergman B7.
Edges
over 3 bundles of 3 warps. The weft returns simply, but is bound by a wrapping thread of slightly Z twisted 2 ply from medium s single yarns (see drawing).
Sewing
Description
Oversewn, loosely, right down selvedge and along transverse border. Worked Z in single fine S single yarn. No real indication of what had been attached.
Sewing continues partly up third side. Patch?
