FURTHER DETAILS
Pattern
Weft sequence: self-band/5 singles/self-band/5 singles etc. 5 singles between each self-band.
Pattern element
self-band
Other features
Frag. 6) Wa: c.50 mm x We: 30 mm. Remains of 7 lines of pile. Pile: thick loops, Z twisted together, 7 mm long. On frag 6) self-bands contain 4 yarns of which 4th may be thicker than other 3 and slightly stronger S spun. Closed loops on pile still surviving. Probably 7 warp threads between exit points of loops, but only visible in one surviving instance. Assuming all these fragments belong together, as seems likely, the self-bands have not been pulled up into loops everywhere, but only in restricted patches.
