FURTHER DETAILS
Edges
Width of folded hem: c.5 mm, max. length 230 mm. Hint in one place that weave might be 2/2 twill with displacement in weft i.e. herringbone with lines of direction-change parallel to warp, changing after12 warp threads. No sign of change in opposite direction to make it diamond twill, but that cannot be ruled out. Might be what LBJ calls Palmyra-type diamond twills at Abu Sha'ar. At one end of hem a flattened Palmyra-type diamond clearly visible. Can't count repeat: at least 12 warp before reverse, and at least 20 or many more weft. Definite displacement in warp direction and probably also in weft. Salt encrustation makes it invisible and inflexible, alas.
