Apulum 03 Burial M4 Tabby, z/z imprint on plaster (?) from burial
Catalogue number
Apulum 03
Inventory number
ADF.01
Description
Textile imprint preserved on the surface of calcareous material (plaster?) from a 3rd century tomb from the Roman necropolis of Apulum (Alba Iulia)-Dealul Furcilor-Podei. The textile traces were identified near the skull, the imprint being produced by the imprint of the shroud or the material that covered the head of the deceased in the gypsum deposited under the deceased, which compacted over time. The support on which the textile material was imprinted is fragmented into three, being called ADF.01 (a, b, c) . Remnants of the original fabric threads could be observed, in poor condition.
