FURTHER DETAILS
Pattern
System (3), tapestry yarn, singles, fairly weak z-spun, c. 30 threads per cm, but variable (once perhaps c.40 per cm), close packed.
The quality of the yarn is similar to that of System (2), the weft.
The colour of the band is now purple-brown, and hard to distinguish from the main web of cloth; it may have been purple once.
There is no special grouping of warp for the tapestry weave. The band is now c.4cm wide, and contains over 80 weft-threads.
Edges
The pairs in the weft pass 1-over-1 over 2 warp-groups, the outer of 5, the inner of 3 threads.
Selvedge type
reinforced
Other features
Fault: Occasional warp-threads are in pairs.
