En Rahel
En Rahel (also spelled 'En Raḥel, Ein Rahel) is a fort in the Negev desert, modern Israel. It served as a way-station on the spice-route between Petra and Gaza. It comprises eight rooms around a courtyard and was occupied between the mid-second century BCE and the first century CE.
The site was excavated in 1981 by D. Nahlieli and Y. Israel on behalf of the Israel Antiquities Authority.
The textiles and related finds were studied and published by Orit Shamir.
